Online booking and Wallet loyalty cards for local businesses

I build online booking for local service businesses, with a stamp card or membership card that lives in your customers’ Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. Customers book from a link, add the card in one tap, and it updates itself after every visit. There is no app to download.

It suits businesses that sell repeat visits: car washes and detailers, dog groomers and dog clubs, salons, studios and members’ clubs.

Your customers already carry the wallet. 65% of UK adults were registered for at least one mobile payment service in 2025, up from 57% in 2024 (UK Finance, UK Payment Markets Report 2025). A card in that wallet is one tap away, and it does not get lost like a paper one.

Worried it is one more app and one more monthly bill?

Three worries owners of salons and studios have posted in public, in their own words, and what I do about each.

And the customer list is yours: customers, bookings and visits sit in your own database, with the code and accounts in your name from day one. While it is built you can click a test link every week, and at the end you get a written handover.

What do you get?

  1. Online booking. Your services, days and times on a page that works in any phone browser, with slots that fill as people book.
  2. A Wallet card on both phones. An Apple Wallet pass and a Google Wallet card with the stamps or membership tier, the next visit and a barcode. One per customer, or one per car, per dog or per member.
  3. A staff view. Today’s bookings, mark a visit done, and the stamp lands on the customer’s card. Scan the card to use a reward.
  4. The owner’s numbers. Repeat visits, no-shows, rewards used and cards in wallets, without a spreadsheet.
  5. Your data, in your database. Customers, bookings and visits stay yours to keep and export.

How does a Wallet stamp card work?

The customer books, taps Add to Apple Wallet or Add to Google Wallet, and the card sits next to their bank cards. When staff close the visit, the server adds the stamp and Apple or Google pushes the new card to the phone, with a note on the lock screen. When the card fills, the reward shows on it. I wrote up how Apple and Google Wallet loyalty cards work step by step, with a demo you can book, visit and redeem on.

A stamp card per car, with online booking

Bigger jobs earn more stamps

The card: one per car, so a household with two cars has two cards.

What I would build first

  1. BookA booking page with your services, bays and opening hours, that replaces the back and forth of calls and messages.
  2. CardA Wallet card per car, added from the booking confirmation, with the stamps, the next visit and a barcode.
  3. StaffA staff view: today’s cars, mark the job done, and the stamp lands on the right card.
  4. NumberRepeat visits per month, and the customers who have not been back in a while.

A starting shape, not a quote. We set the real one on a first call.

What have I built that looks like your business?

I have built online booking with Wallet cards for a car care business, with a stamp card per car, and for a dog club, with a member card per dog. Both run in the browser, with a staff view and no app for customers to install. The clients can’t be named under NDA, so the write-ups below are the proof you can open.

The same way of working runs through my bigger builds: guardrails for AI agents and digital dollars for community banks, in forward deployed engineering. If you want product leadership for a bigger product, see fractional CPO. If you want a virtual store, a configurator or a browser game, see 3D web experiences.

Who is this for, and who is it not for?

A good fit

  • Service businesses that live on repeat visits.
  • Owners taking bookings by phone and messages, or stamping paper cards.
  • Businesses where the customer has more than one thing to look after: cars, dogs, family members.
  • Clubs that want members’ tiers on a card instead of a plastic one.

Not a fit

  • One-off sales with no reason to come back.
  • You want a native app in the App Store and Google Play.
  • An off-the-shelf tool already does everything you need. Keep it.
  • You need a till or card terminal replaced. This sits next to your payments.

Salon booking software or a custom online booking system: which do you need?

If you only need people to book, ready-made salon booking software or appointment booking software is the right start: Square Appointments, for one, lists a free plan for a single location. A custom online booking system earns its place when the card has to belong to a car, a dog or a member, when the stamp card should live in Apple and Google Wallet with no app, or when you want the customers and visits in your own database. If you already use a booking tool, I can often add Wallet cards to it, as long as it lets other software read its bookings. I compared what the main tools charge in the Wallet stamp card guide.

How much does online booking with a Wallet loyalty card cost?

There are two parts: the build, and the running costs. The running costs are small and they are yours: hosting, a database, and the Apple developer membership that lets your business issue Apple Wallet passes.

Market data, not my rates
  • Off-the-shelf booking software in the UK starts free for one location: Square Appointments lists a free plan, then £29 and £69 a month per location for its paid plans (Square, checked 15 October 2026).
  • Issuing Apple Wallet passes needs an Apple Developer Program membership at $99 a year (Apple).

I price each build after a first call, from what you sell, how many locations you have and what it needs to connect to. If an off-the-shelf tool covers you, I will say so.

Questions people ask

Do my customers need to download an app?

No. They book from a link and add the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap. Apple Wallet is built into the iPhone.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Each customer gets an Apple Wallet pass or a Google Wallet card, and both update after every visit.

Can I have one card per car, per dog or per member?

Yes. The card can belong to whatever you look after, each with its own count. A household with two cars has two cards.

Will it cut no-shows?

It records every missed slot against the customer’s card, so you can see who books and does not come. What you do about it is your rule, such as a deposit for repeat no-shows.

Can you add Wallet cards to the booking tool I already use?

Often, if the tool lets other software read its bookings. If it does not, we decide together whether replacing it is worth it.

Is this loyalty program software, or a custom build?

A custom build, set up for your business: the stamp or membership card, the server that updates it after each visit, the staff view and the owner’s numbers, with the data in your own database. Off-the-shelf loyalty program software suits you if a monthly plan covers what you need and the card does not have to follow your bookings. The running costs of mine are yours: hosting, a database and Apple’s $99 a year developer membership.

What do I need to provide?

Your services, prices, opening hours and logo, an Apple developer account in your business name, and a Google Wallet issuer account. I walk you through both accounts.

Do you work with businesses outside London?

Yes. I work remotely with businesses in the UK and elsewhere.

  1. 30-minute call. Your goal, your users, what is stuck.
  2. A written plan in 48 hours. What to build first, how long it takes, the risks.
  3. Start, or not. Use the plan with your team or with me. I reply to every email within one working day.
